If someone is in danger call 999.

Here are some examples of when to phone 999:

  • A building's on fire.

  • Someone's life is in danger.

  • A crime is happening.

  • There has been a bad accident and people are hurt.

  • When you call 999, the person who answers your call is there to help you.

Take a deep breath and speak clearly and slowly. The person will ask for your name and telephone number, where you are and what has happened.

Try your best to do everything the person on the phone asks you to do. They will send someone to help you as quickly as possible.
