Be careful when you are out and about

Safety when you are out and about

Use these simple guidelines to help you stay safe:

Stick to the main paths and well-lit areas.

If you are going somewhere you have never been to before, make sure you know how to get there.

If possible, go with a friend or arrange to meet a friend in a well-lit, public place.

Never get into a car with someone you don't know.

Never get into a car with someone you think has been drinking or taking drugs, even if you know them.

If someone tries to take your bag or phone, throw it at them and run away. Do not try to keep it as you could get hurt and you can always replace anything which is stolen.

If you feel uncomfortable when someone is walking behind you, turn quickly and walk the other way - do not be afraid to ask someone for help.
